Fall Is In The Air

Loaded Crab Apple Tree
Black Eyed Susan
This fellow looks as if he is looking for Alice.
A terrible weed that, if unchecked, grows into this monster.
Green Caterpillar covered in what looks to be insect eggs.
Football, wearing sweaters, pumpkins
harvest moons, Halloween,
colorful leaves, cool nights, clear blue skies,
Thanksgiving, apples
foggy mornings,
spiders spinning webs,
grasshoppers, caterpillars,
all wonderful things about Fall.

A Naked Crazy Quilt?

That title should get some attention,
maybe not the kind I want.
I showed the heart
 crazy quilt pillow
I am making yesterday.
Last night I wondered, what I
would use to embellish it with.
Well in my mailbox today, I
found the answer!

One of the wonderful ATC Swappers,
Francie from
sent this wonderful box of goodies.
She said it was a Thank You
 for co- hosting the
Blissfull ATC Swap

Francie has a wonderful blog and
has a tutorial how
to make fake candy.
Fake candy that you can
use as garland on your
Christmas Tree
or on a wreath.
I  have been on a diet
so even fake candy looks
tasty to me.

Thank you Very Much!
You really shouldn't have,
but, I am so glad you did.

I Have A Camera And I'm Not Afraid To Use It!

Finally, I have a camera to myself,
well almost I will have to let DH
use it occasionally.  For the most part
it is mine and no more weeding through
500 images my teenage daughter
has taken.  Really, some of those
boyfriends should have been
 deleted long ago.

I am starting a new project for a
dear friend's birthday.  I have
told you before, I love Crazy Quilts
so I am attempting a small
project here.

Now I know I have already made an error,
I sewed the back on before I finished
embellishing the front.  But there
is a small opening in the side and hopefully
I can work with it like it is.
I have machine stitched the seam lines with
a few different stitches.
I will add the handwork today.

What Do I See? A Beautiful ATC Waiting For Me!

This beautiful ATC arrived in my mailbox today.
Beth my swap partner in the
created this beauty.

Now this is Beth's
What is an ATC, you ask?
It is a 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" card
upon which you create
a work of art,
by painting,
or just about any
form of creativity.

Or, in this case,
you create
not a work of art but,

I am totally blown away by
this beauty.

Beth showed a small hint to
this ATC in a post on her blog.

In my comment to her,
I said it looked like a science
experiment or a sun spot.
I could not figure out
exactly what it was.

Who would know that the
beading above, was
going to end up being hair?
And that face,
Beth creates these Cabochons,
isn't she beautiful?
The body is a butterfly,
a double layered butterfly.

I should be showing you a
 picture of the ATC
 I sent to Beth.
But, in my haste to
mail it, I did not take
a photo of it.

And, right now I am glad
I didn't.
You can see the one I
sent Beth on her blog.

Mine cannot compare to
this beauty.
Really, Beth I absolutly

I have decided I will have
to step up my game,
to hang with these girls.

It is probably a good thing
Wendy and I both
write the
or they may kick me out!

If you would like to join our swap group,
we would love to have you,

We will be matching Swap Partners
for September soon!

Lessons Learned

I started out to write about how I have had a great learning experience, from losing my pictures.  Yes, I wanted to cry when I first saw the damage I had single handily created.  I wrote my post with tears in my eyes. I pushed the publish post button and a funny thing happened, the comments started coming in.  Comments that expressed concern and sympathy.  Comments that upon my writing a reply, caused me to realize there was more to this than losing a few pictures.
I received comments from friends, friends I did not have 3 months ago.  Friends that I value, friends that leave comments, I look forward to reading. Friends that have blogs, I enjoy reading.
Most of you are like me, we write our blog posts from our hearts.  We want to say something that has meaning and substance.  I think that was why the loss of the pictures hurt.  They weren't just pictures when I posted them.  They were pictures that helped tell the story of that blog post.  But, there will be other blog posts and other pictures.   As I told several of you, "C'est la vie", in the grand scheme of things, this is very minor.   Please, learn a lesson from me and don't go around deleting things like a crazed mad woman.  Impetuous I have been called and impetuous I'm sure I will be again, but maybe not any time soon.

I saw a great quote somewhere recently, it could have been on some one's blog, I am sorry not to remember where.
"Be kinder than necessary, because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle."

May your battles be small and your victories great.

What Have I Done To My Poor Blog

Or how to destroy a blog without meaning to.
What a mess I have made of my blog.
I recently went into my pictures and decided
I needed to delete some I would not need again.
After I deleted them I noticed some MOST
of my blog pictures had disappeared!
I complained to my daughter, she said
maybe the link to the picture was messed up.
"You didn't fool with your pictures did you?"
"No, I didn't do anything to the blog pictures,
I just deleted some from my picture file I didn't
need anymore."
I may not have needed them but my poor blog did.
Now I will try to restore my blog to it's previous
Cindy, if you are reading this please put me
on the prayer list.

An Old Favorite/New Favorite Song

Cindy at I Owe It All To Him asked each of
us to post our favorite song.

(photo from google images)
I grew up loving musicals.
"The Sound of Music"
 with lyrics by:
Rogers and Hammerstein
being a favorite.
As I have mentioned in
a previous post my Grandparents
were of Austrian/ German Heritage.
This musical was also near and
dear to my Grandmother's heart.
She requested we play "Edelweiss"
at her funeral.
Last weekend, I  had the
opportunity to see this musical
performed by the
Paragon Music Theatre Troupe, at
The Lexington Opera House. ( Look for
a review on a previous post.)
This show brought back many
memories and a flood of emotions.
When Mother Abbess sang,
"Climb Every Mountain", I was
sobbing.  The song I loved,
 had a whole new meaning.
Yes, I had sung the words before,
 but somehow at that moment,
I had a deeper understanding
 of the words.

Climb every mountain,

Search high and low,

Follow every byway,

Every path you know.

Climb every mountain,

Ford every stream,

Follow every rainbow,

'Till you find your dream.

A dream that will need

All the love you can give,

Every day of your life

For as long as you live.

Climb every mountain,

Ford every stream,

Follow every rainbow,

Till you find your dream

A dream that will need

All the love you can give,

Every day of your life,

For as long as you live.

Climb every mountain,

Ford every stream,

Follow every rainbow,

Till you find your dream.

Keep striving for a better you,
don't let obstacles  deter you,
from moving forward.
If the path you are on,
is not taking you in the
direction you feel you need to go.
Change direction,
search out another path.
 Keep looking for inspiration.
Each day brings new opportunities.
You may have missed an opportunity
because, fear held you back.
When you find that path
 and that elusive dream,
seize it with both hands.
Take your dreams
 and nurture them.
We have no idea,
 of our full potential.

How Sweet--- The Sound Of Music

I had a real treat today,
My daughter and I  attended
the play, "The Sound of Music".
What a wonderful show it was.
The performance was at
I have included a link so you
can check the Opera House out.

Paragon Music Theatre was the
troupe that brought
"The Sound Of Music"
to life.
For the most part these talented
performers are from Lexington, Kentucky.
 Maria was protrayed by
Sydney Steele, an 18 year old
recent high school graduate.
Sydney did an excellent job and
I believe I enjoyed her performance more
than that of Julie Andrews.
My children and some talented friends
have been involved in the theatre
for years.  I have seen many plays,
broadway touring troupes to middle school
drama classes. This is one of
the best, if not the best play
I have ever seen.
 Mother Abbess is played
by Cynthia Ackley, her rendition
of "Climb Every Mountain" had me
and those around me in tears.
Never have I heard this song,
 performed in this way.
The youngsters that protrayed the
Von Trapp children, were well rehearsed
and did an excellent job as well.
What a fabulous opportunity they
have experienced.
Take the Arts out of the schools?
With talented young people like this,
what a shame that would be.
If you have the opportunity to see this
performance, go!
I can think of no better way
to spend the evening.
My daughter and I are going back
next weekend, we will be taking my
husband and other daughter as well.

Love to all,
